My son's father is currently incarcerated, and it will be long term. I was wondering if I could still get some type of child support assistance from the state or government. Can you still get assistance if parent is incarcerated?
You cannot receive child support if your child's father is incarcerated. However, you may qualify for state aide in the form of welfare i.e. food stamps, housing assistance (section 8), medical assistance, and child care assistance. Most states now allow you to fill out an online questionnaire to see if you qualify. Check your state's for more details !Can you still get assistance if parent is incarcerated?
You won't receive child support but you can have him served while he is in prison and I guess this is to document all of the back support owed. You could qualify for food stamps and medical assistance and most of this you can apply for online so good luck.
Absolutely. An incarcerated parent is one of the most common reasons a child is eligible for welfare.
I withdraw my answer - the other recommendations are better than mine...
