Do I have to be the parent of a minor who wants to get a tattoo?

I'm 18, and I wanted to get a nice birthday gift for my friend, he's turning 16 in a couple of days. I just want to find out if I can sign for him to get a tattoo.. Thanks in advance.Do I have to be the parent of a minor who wants to get a tattoo?
If tattooing minors is allowed in your state and an artist is willing to do it, it must be a parent or legal guardian present. This means not just anyone over 18.Do I have to be the parent of a minor who wants to get a tattoo?
That's not what I meant but okay ... I wouldn't trust that artist because of the sheer fact that you don't actually hold legal power over your friend. Hope the artist is clean and worth it even if laws are bypassed.

Yes you have to be parent. The form you sign is a liability form that you wont sue them if you have a bad reaction or anything. Over 18, that person can sign away that right. Under 18 only parent/guardian can, since if you could sign, has a bad reaction, his parents can still sue. And his parents could probably sue/file charges for them tattooing him without their permision.Same with piercings.

If a 18+ year old friend could, alot more 15-17 year old kids would have tatts
unless you are 18 and look like you are 38, or if you can convince them that you had your friend at the age of 2, no, it won't fly. Plus they will ask for ID to verify that you are infact his parent and/or guardian
are you crazy!!!! gettin a tattoo for a 16 year old, please dont tell us all here at yahoo answers that you are that dumb.

he will not thank you when hes 26, do you think at 26 he will still like that band or saying he wants.
There is no consent form for tattoos for minors, that's only for piercings.

And you have to be a parent or legal guardian.
No you can not......must be a parent or legal guardian......unless ur friend is emancipated.
i think it depends on tattoo place, my place didnt care, and they didnt check id.
Yes you do. My friend tried that for me and it didnt work at all.
that won't work they ask for id and proof that you are infact the parent
