Are you still truant if your parent or legal guardian allows you to skip?

For example, family is visiting, there's a big family outing, everyone is going-- but it's a school day for any regular student. The parents allow them to skip, will the child still be considered ';truant';? Obvious answer is the parent will take the blame, if caught, but is that still considered truancy?Are you still truant if your parent or legal guardian allows you to skip?
Depends on the laws in your state. For a family function like this, I would not think it would be considered truancy. But, to be sure, contact the school and find out.

Some things could still be considered truancy even with parent's consent. One example is to skip school to go shopping, even if it is with the parent.Are you still truant if your parent or legal guardian allows you to skip?
Generally, yes.

Different schools have somewhat different policies. However, usually there's a process by which the parent notifies the school that the child will not be attending. In other words, the parent or guardian must notify the school.

Your question suggested that the student simply skips without that parental notification to the school. And there the answer is that the student is truant. Parental permission to the student isn't the issue. Parental notification to the school is.

Hope that helps.
No, anytime you are signed out of school with a legitimate reason, parent request, illness, etc., you are not truant you are simply absent. Truancy is, ';unauthorized absence.';
well if your with your parents or family and its just a day or two i think its fine. if your parents allow you to stay home for extended periods of time then your a traunt and their in trouble.
I can sign my son out - inform the school of his planned absence. That covers it. The school does not require a doctor's note or anything, if I say he needs to attend something with me that is it.
Don't know but it is considered irresponsibility on the part of the parents.
Yes
