Will I get a bigger income tax refund as a single parent of 1 child or a married parent?

I am a single parent of a new baby and I make $30K a year. If I get married, our combined income will be $66K a year. Are there special tax breaks for single parents or will we receive a higher return if we file as married? Btw, we live in Georgia. Will I get a bigger income tax refund as a single parent of 1 child or a married parent?
No way to say. Refunds are just your money that you overpaid to the IRS and the state being returned to you. The object is not to get a big refund, but to break even at filing time. Any refund that you get is nothing more than an interest-free loan that you gave the government. Will I get a bigger income tax refund as a single parent of 1 child or a married parent?
If you are married, you have to file as married filing joint or married filing separate. Check out the link below for the pros and cons of each one.
Dear need: Tax refunds are based on how you set up your W4 at work and you can maneuver it to have a refund or break even. Tax credits are something else. As a single parent with one child you would qualify for some EITC but with your combined income and married you would not. Other credits would probably be available married/single and would not phase out until you reached well over $100K.

1. Do not look at your refund, look at your net taxes and the credits you are able to claim. This is a more realistic view of your total tax situation. Figure this year's taxes both way and see how it looks.

2. Unmarried will have tax advantages ';usually'; If I had to guess based on just what you told me .... but honestly, are you going to let the tax code run your life?
You may want to check this site out they have a tax refund calender. You can run a few scenarios on this practice form before your file the real thing.

I hope this information helps!
