I prefer a real attorney to answer this. Is it too late to sue my mother for extreme abuse I have endured from her in 57 years? And if she has a guardian, do I sue the guardian? Can an adult sue her parent who is 92 for emotional, physical, and sexual abuse?
There is a statute of limitations for the criminal behavior.
In California (which is similar to most states):
There is no limit if the prosecution for offenses punishable by death or by life imprisonment or life imprisonment without possibility of parole. But, since she didn't kill you, this is certainly out.
For felonies that carry a sentence of over eight years in prison, there is a 6 year statute of limitations.
For all other felonies that carry a prison sentence between 1 year and 8 years, the crime must be reported within 3 years.
For all misdemeanors and infractions, there is a 1 year statute of limitations.
Basically, you have no criminal recourse for what she did to you. However, in civil court, you may have a case. However, unless you ever pressed charges or have documentation of the abuses you claim to have endured, you have a very slim shot of ever succeeding in a civil case. Can an adult sue her parent who is 92 for emotional, physical, and sexual abuse?
Does she have a lot of money?
