You will have to have both signatures for any legal documents regarding a minorCan the non custodial parent obtain a copy of their child's birth certificate or social security card?
In my State, a non custodial parent can obtain a birth certificate copy only if their name is listed as the parent and they present proper ID. Since the parent has the responsibility of vouching for the identity of the child, it would follow suit that if their name is not on the BC as the parent, they won't be able to get a copy of the SS either.
Why?
Sure why not? If he is paying child support and is allowed to claim your child on his taxes why shouldn't he have copies of the documents?
As far as i am aware you can as it is your legal right, as i too intend to do the same as you , even though it is not a true form of identity, it is however a recognisable document of true parentage in the family court . recognising parental rights of any named parents. true fact.
