Can a 16 year old enroll in school without the permission of a parent?

My girlfriend is moving here in new york from west virginia, and she wants to be able to finish school. her parents don't want much to do with her, and would never take the time to sign her up for a school here. help? Can a 16 year old enroll in school without the permission of a parent?
She would need someone to sign the dotted line...

But if her parents are not willing to help, maybe one of your parents or family members would be willing to take her and help sign her up.

Good luck- a good education is very important, and its sad that her own parents wont help her to get it.

Stay strong and good luckCan a 16 year old enroll in school without the permission of a parent?
Not unless your parents can sign as legal guardians
not unless she gets emancipated

which is basically divorcing your parents but its alot of legal stuff so i dont know if you want to put up with that
no she's underage, when your underage you need your parent's permission for EVERYTHING.
she should get emancipated from her parents so that she can be a legal adult and doesnt need a parent signature for anything (except you have to go to court and have a judge grant it)

or they could grant temporary guardian rights to your parents so they could do it for her and then sign all her school papers etc. that she will need signed later on once she is in school
She must be emancipated in order to do that in NY (other then that she is under her parents ';rule'; until she is 21, not even 18 in NYS)
she needs to be assigned a temporary parental guardian. then she can. we had the same problem with my sister's friend.
