Because you should take time to be a kid for as long as possible. once you hit 20, everything goes by so fast. At the age of 12, dating will get you more interested in starting a sexual relationship, taking social risks and spending more time away from the things that will truly make you, independent of your parents and of other people you may meet in life who are not going to take responsibility for your food, clothing and shelter. You're too young to date. Ask if you can go out as a group with people, then you can pick who you want to sit next to, etc. One-on-one is too soon for you.
Just ask them how old they think you should be when you start dating. I personally thank 12 is to young.
