What are the consequences of a parent who's committed child abuse?

someone i know has been subject to child abuse but they only have this certain parent and i'm afraid that if we tell our school counselor they will report it.... would they have to go into foster care?What are the consequences of a parent who's committed child abuse?
No child wants to be taken away from their parent, even if the parents are abusive. If you report it to the counselor they are, by law, obligated to take action. My advise is to report it to the counselor. Its better for the child to be safe then to be with the parent in danger.What are the consequences of a parent who's committed child abuse?
You MUST report child abuse to an authority, if the child is in physical danger particularly. What are you waiting for? Why do you ask what will happen to the parent? What about the child?
