Hes the Religious teacher, and we had to write a one big card for him.
when he comes back to teach, what can i say to make him feel better and not awkard?
nothing like im sorry, cuz that just feels weird.
any other things to say? What could say to a parent of a dead child?
my sister recently passed away, she was 16
and heaps of people said things to me and my parents
mostly like 'I'm sorry' and my knee-jerk reaction was 'that's OK'
(i cant help it! when people say I'm sorry to me i usually say that's ok)
and they looked at me like i was strange, which admittedly i was (:
but just asking how they're going and then actually listening to the answer is just fine as well, its less creepy than the I'm sorry for your loss line everyone thinks they have to say
whatever you say, I'm sure he'll just know that you mean well seeing as he's a religious teacher.
hope thats helped. What could say to a parent of a dead child?
There really isn't any words that could comfort a parent when they have lost a child. Sometimes it is good to just say what's from your heart as it's honest and truthful. In this case it may even be better to just go on as normal and if the teacher want's to talk to the class about his loss, you can take the lead from there. He probably will feel uncomfortable at first as I know I certainly would. It is a tough one and I wish you all the best.
';You'll see him/her again.';
Then say no more-grieving is an intensely personal thing. Respect that and your sentiment will be appreciated.
Sometimes that's the only thing you have to hold on to. It's not much but it's just enough to hold off the total vivid bleakness that threatens to envelope your existence.
I have been thinking about you and your family, or I have had your family in my prayers. Its really nice that your concerned I'm sure you'll say the right thing you obviously have a big heart.
if he is very religious:
be sure that your nice girl is now under the patronage of the angel's wings in heaven.
My heart feels heavy for your loss
