What benefits will i get as a single parent?

I'll be most likely a single mum...I'm only 23. I'm also only 2 weeks into my new job...I now its not easy to get a council flat. I just don't know where to start from...can anyone help me and tell me what kind of money i will be able to get a week? What benefits will i get as a single parent?
Well, it depends on how far along you are into your pregnancy, how long your probation period is at work, and what your work policy states as to if you will receive maternity leave or not.

As far as other benefits go, you may be entitled to WIC (which provides cereal, milk, peanut butter, beans, juice, and cheese for you while you are pregnant and then formula for baby after he/she is born or more food for you if you are breastfeeding), medicaid (which will provide free medical care for you up until 2 or 3 months after your pregnancy and for the first year or more of baby's life), TANF (money to help pay your bills), food stamps (to buy groceries with), and child-care assistance for once the baby is born.

Please visit your local department of health and human services. They can discuss the above benefits better and can give you any forms or other information you may need.

Good luck and congratulations! What benefits will i get as a single parent?
I don't quuite understand your question. WHy don't you ask your boss how much money you will get. He/she would be the only one to know that. Unless of course your looking for a govt. handout.
to many single girls having babies just to get there hands on benefits as they are better off
You may qualify for the Sure Start Maternity Grant of 拢500, but that depends on how much you earn at the time of application.

You should get Child Benefit (拢18.10 per week), and child tax credits(not sure of this amount.)

You will get Healthy start vouchers worth 拢2.80, and you get four of those per month.

Look into housing benefit, get your name down for a flat, once you are pregnant, you are of a higher priority and it is easier, but you have to keep bugging the council to get you housed.

You will get a maternity exemption certificate, so you don't need to pay for any prescriptions from the time you get it to one year after your EDD. This entitles you to free medical care from the doctors and the dentists.
Contact your housing assosiation through your local council dept, they will put you on a housing list asap due to your situation but dont take the first one they offer! insist on one you like. As for the job ask your boss about maternity as many work places only offer maternity money after a certain amount of time working with them. You should be able to get maternity leave. Have you not had your child yet? Plus if you drop out of employment you should get 80pnd a week. My advice see your council, tell your boss and continue working for a while to save up. xx
you need to speak to your local job centre, they will tell you what you should be entitled to and they will be help you with housing aswel good luck.
You don't deserve any ';benefits'; from the government. Gosh! I am so tired of my tax dollars being given away! Get another job! Save your money! Budget! You've got nine months ahead of you and you're already worried about BENEFITS? What about the health of the child? You should have been worried about taking birth control or buying condoms! So, here is your starting point . . . FIND ANOTHER JOB AND WORK TWO OR THREE. Hell work four for that matter. Be independent and stop depending on other people!
Hi there, I recently found myself in nearly the same situation. Check out www.hmrc.gov.uk for maternity rights. You wont get SMP (standard maternity pay) as you need to be continuously employed in the same job 26 weeks by the 15th week before your baby is due ( by the time you are 25weeks gone you need to be working there 6 months). You will be entitled to Maternity Allowance and hmrc website should give you more details. You will also get tax credits and working tax credit and also housing benefit. Get onto your local housing association or council for a house, although be warned they are ridiculously slow, also the baby doesnt count towards your housing points until it is actually born. If you can declare yourself homeless it should quicken up the pace a bit, but i found myself homeless with a 6month old baby and 4weeks pregnant in January and im still waiting to get a house. (I live in NI so may be quicker on mainland). If you can talk to your local Social security office or the citizens advice bureau are brilliant!! Hope this helps an good luck!
Well as your working, you should be entitled to maternity pay. Ask your employer how much this will work out as. You may be able to get housing benifit if your income is not enough to cover your rent and living expenses. If you are not returning to work you will have to make a claim at the DSS, for income support which is apox, 57 pounds per week. This is topped up by child tax credit. Also you can get 17.55 per week in child benifit. If you wish to return to work after the baby is born you can still get child tax credit if you are earning up to a certain amount and can also apply for working tax credit. If in reciept of WTC you will be liable for full rent and council tax but entitled to free prescriptions and dental treatment, and can claim for childcare costs as well.

For all the information that you need contact the lone parent advisor at your local jobcenter plus and ask them to work out what you can claim. Also you are entitled to maintenence which is not taken as income when working out your entitlement to working tax credit. Contact the CSA for advice on claiming from the father of your baby.
I'm assuming that you don't live in the US, our benefit system is probably going to be very different than yours. Here you don't get money for being pregnant, once you have a child you can get cash assistance if you are not working, but it's a very minimal amount....most people cannot even pay normal rent with it. Unless you have paid maternity leave through your employer or disability insurance provider. I think our public housing system is similar to your council flat? The waiting list here is extremely long in most areas, years in most cases.
put your name down 4 a flat or a house
well i can tell you that you wont get anythink from work as you ahve not been there long anoth so your best off going down the social and getting some benifits and put your name down on the housing list as you will get a place to live if you have now where to live with a baby and you should get the baby father to help you out if he had sex with you and did not use a comdom then he should step up to his responsiblity
you should get help with housing even if your working and enen if you not with him you should get something if you dont CSA
