Our agency is state farm, recently i heard that new drivers need no additional insurance, as you buy insurance on a car not on the driver, and that the majority of all these good student discounts and new drivers insurance is just a scam by insurance companies. My friends dad told us he hasn't insured any of his 5 kids on cars he already had insured and he's never had a problem.Is seperate insurance for minors nessacary on cars a parent already has insured?
Your dad has been lucky that none of his kids has had an accident. When there's a new driver, the company is entitled to the extra premium for the increased risk; failure to add the driver could possibly void coverage after an accident.
